In December, all of our students took part in a workshop based around extremism, radicalisation and terrorism. It was superbly delivered by Tim Horobin, a Prevent Delivery Officer from the Lancashire Community Safety Team.
Tim explored these words with students, unpicked their meaning and gave recent examples to support his age-appropriate delivery.
He reinforced the Fundamental British Values that underpin what it is to be a citizen in a modern and diverse Great Britain valuing our community and celebrating diversity.
-Democracy
-Rule of Law
-Mutual respect
-Tolerance
-Individual Liberty
Parents and carers: radicalisation can be really difficult to spot. Signs that may indicate a child is being radicalised include:
-isolating themselves from family and friends
-talking as if from a scripted speech
-unwillingness or inability to discuss their views
-a sudden disrespectful attitude towards others
-increased levels of anger
-increased secretiveness, especially around internet use.
