Year 7 had a wonderful time at the Youth Animate Centre in St Helens. Fr. Simon and the team welcomed us from the coach and pupils were straight into activities. The day was action packed and fun filled. As a religious retreat the theme was ‘Discovering our Gifts and Talents’. Games ranged from ‘The Crystle maze’ to simulation games and even included eggs being thrown off the roof. The purpose of the activities was to show the pupils they all have God given talents and that we should nurture and look after them. During break and lunch there was plenty to do, once they visited the tuck shop and ate in the canteen, pupils played outside with cricket, football or badminton. We closed the day with some quiet reflection in Prayer room using scripture to focus on how Gods wants us to use our ‘Gifts and talents’ in the future. To consider the next steps of their journey. It was a fantastic day out and a change to find out more about God and their place in the world.
