On Wednesday 28th February, our pupils in Y7-10 watched a live presentation related to knife crime. As a school, we want our pupils to learn and reflect not just on the problems caused by people carrying knives but also gang mentality, online grooming, violence, friendships, as well as the culture of social media and how it can affect the choices we make.
The ‘The JJ Effect’ presentation has received outstanding reviews nationally from a range of schools and youth organisations as well as police and the BBC. The presenter, Byron Higham has worked all over the country but is in fact a local man who now centres much of his work in and around Preston. The content was very hard hitting and intense, but Byron brought his humour, care and compassion to deliver a phenomenal presentation.
It is hoped that the impact of the presentation will ultimately lead to all our young people developing the resilience and confidence to make good decisions for themselves, to know what to do in difficult situations, to develop healthy positive relationships and ultimately to keep themselves safe.
