Good afternoon everybody, For those of you who don’t know us my name is Florence and my Name is Alfie and we have been privileged to take on the role as head boy and girl this past year.

Saint Cecilia’s has meant a great deal to us both and has acted as a big part in shaping who we are today.  Florence and I could stand here today and tell you all about the great reports, the drive for great attendance and the academic accomplishments this school has had. But when Mr hall asked us to deliver this speech this afternoon, we knew that was not what we were going to talk to you about. There are not many students that could truthfully, hand on heart, admit that there teachers would willingly dress up at the end of every year and sing extremely out of tune. Unluckily, for us everyone in this room can.

We were the unfortunate year that joined in the start of the pandemic, coming from two very small isolated schools Florence and I both knew the need for supportive teachers to make this big transition as easy as possible.  And if you can’t tell from us both standing here today they did a fine job of it. It would be remiss of us to not mention the teachers dedication and hard work to make this school not just place of learning but a place to forge lifelong friendships and be the best version of yourself.

It seems like yesterday that we walked through the dining room doors, oversized blazer on, mask in hand and absolutely petrified of what we classed as huge year 11s. It doesn’t seem real now that we have become those huge year 11s. We are about embark on a new journey and chapter in our lives ,  a chapter of growth, new responsibilities and new opportunities, a chapter only possible due to our inspirational time at Saint Cecilia’s.

The memories we have made in our five year journey here will last for a life time. I will never ever forget in year seven Mr Hall breaking out in song…EVERY SINGLE.. RE lesson.  I’m not joking every single one. Don’t remind me. I will never forget the constant arguments that broke out in year 7 English between myself and Florence because she was always wrong and still always is.  The exact same arguments that returned when writing this speech. Jokes aside, Saint Cecilia’s has been our collective home for a long time and leaving it won’t be easy, but we know  the support and guidance we have all received over the past years will be put to good use. Looking out on our 2025 leavers I can see a future teacher, a future nurse, a future musician,  a future  entrepreneur, a future artists, a future architect, a future lawyer and so much more potential. Our year group is going to do amazing things and make us all proud.

Thank you for listening to us waffling on and if we had one final message for you all it would be if we could ever redo our high school experience again… we would do it all…  in a heartbeat, at Saint Cecilia’s.  Thank you for listening
