This week’s collective worship is on Stewardship: Care for Gods creation.
During the assembly we remined pupils about Catholic Social Teaching and how the Pope, in his papal encyclical, Laudato Si, is working hard to teach us about ‘Our Common home’
We read through Genesis 2 and discovered how God gave humans responsibility to take care of Gods creation. We discussed how human activity has led to damage of the ecosystem and harmed nature by burning fossil fuels, leading to climate change. We also learned how Climate change will affect the poor the most and is what is driving much of the migration into Europe.
We looked at how plastic and litter is affecting our wildlife and delicate ecosystem. We ended by giving a list of changes we each can make in order to stand together and make a change.
It is by working with nature and not against it that can solve the problem.
We will all be judged by God on how we have taken care of this gift God has given us, the earth.
