St Cecilia’s RC High School, Longridge, is celebrating another fantastic year of academic success as students received their GCSE results today, marking yet another year of impressive achievements.

The school has proudly reported a 10% increase in the number of students achieving top grades of 7 and above, reflecting the consistent hard work, determination, and resilience shown by both students and staff throughout the academic year. Headteacher Mrs Helen Hall praised the entire school community for their unwavering commitment: “We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements.

This year’s results are a testament to their perseverance and the dedication of our teaching staff, who work tirelessly for all the children who attend our very special school. To see a 10% rise in higher grades is truly outstanding.” Many students are now preparing to take the next step in their education, having secured places at a wide range of sixth forms and colleges, including competitive A-level and vocational courses.

Staff, parents, and governors came together to celebrate the students’ successes, with many highlighting the school’s continued focus on academic excellence, high expectations, and its strong Catholic ethos. These qualities were recognised in the school’s recent inspections, with an ‘Outstanding’ judgment in the Catholic Schools Inspection (November) and ‘Outstanding’ for Personal Development by Ofsted in January 2025.

This year also marks the third consecutive year of improved outcomes at St Cecilia’s, further strengthening its growing reputation for high performance and student success. A special mention goes to Alfie Baker, who achieved grade 9 in all subjects, including Further Maths. Alfie has also been awarded a prestigious scholarship to Westholme School, where he will begin studying engineering this September.

“We are so proud of all Alfie’s achievements over the past five years at St Cecilia’s,” added Mrs Hall. “He exemplifies everything we strive for in our students — ambition, diligence, and character.” With another year of excellent results, St Cecilia’s RC High School continues to shine as a beacon of educational excellence in the local community.
