On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day with a series of enjoyable activities aimed at promoting literacy and creativity. Staff and pupils alike dressed up as their favourite characters for the day. There were some wonderfully creative costumes from The Madhatter to Lady Macbeth! We also ran a series of competitions, the highlight being, guess the ‘masked reader’. Staff went ‘undercover’ behind a Memoji icon and read a passage from a book. The pupils had great fun guessing the book title, author and, with much hilarity, the identity of the teacher. Standout performances included an Irish Mr. Stink (a great effort, Mr. Nelson!) and a Mrs. Weasley delivering the ‘Howler’ - move over Julie Walters, Mrs. Crook is coming for your role! Each year group read a short story over the course of three lessons including ‘The Landlady’, ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’ and ‘Monkey’s Paw’. A great day all round. Well done, everyone!
