The staff and pupils had a really enjoyable day visiting Manchester Jewish Synagogue Museum.
The pupils began their day with activities in the Museum itself. Pupils had worksheets and went around in groups finding out information about the history of Jews in the Manchester area. The museum us fully interactive with touch screen technology, cinema room and headsets for the pupils to experience and better appreciate the Jewish history in Manchester. The next activity was film making. Each group was given a Ipad and given the task of making a film about the Synagogue. Pupils really enjoyed this and some of the films are shared by clicking the link below. After lunch pupils were allowed to dress up using prayer objects and pass around a variety of Jewish artefacts. Some even had a go at blowing the Shofar. (Rams horn) Mrs Bretherton was particularly good. The day ended with pupils baking their own Challah bread to take home. We thank the Museum staff for their hospitality and allowing us to better understand what it means to be Jewish in in Britain today.
